Tattoos have always been a sign of showing your individuality; this is no less true with the latest fashion for foot tattoos. Already a most sensual part of the body; decorating your feet with beautiful images and romantic designs can add to the appeal.
If you are considering having a foot tattoo, it is important to carefully decide which image you want to use. It is always best to go into the parlor with a design in mind, rather than leaf through the well-thumbed books they will hand you.
Obviously, the image should be important to you and reflect your character. However, many images work extremely well on the foot; being just as graceful as the canvas they are painted on. Some popular images include stars and flowers, whilst many elect to have a stylized zodiac sign, or perhaps the graceful lettering of a loved one.
Just as important as the design and imagery you wish to show the world, is where you will have the tattoo placed.
Foot tattoos can be placed anywhere of course, and perhaps the location should be decided along with selecting the design. A starburst for example will look excellent trailing lightly up the ankle. However, it may lose its impact if simply placed on the dorsal, (or top surface) of the foot.
Light colors will perhaps look better on the foot, but may fade too quickly over time. Have in mind which colors you wish to go for, but have a discussion with your artist; use his or her professionalism. It is their job after all.
Having foot tattoos are amongst the most painful to have; be sure to remember this. Your foot will also in most likelihood swell for a while afterwards. Ensure you can handle this before going ahead with the procedure.
Many people often look to getting a foot tattoo done shortly before heading off on vacation. If this is the case, be sure to have it done at least 4 – 6 weeks before you depart, to allow time for it to heal well. A scabbed tattoo is not attractive.
It is also important to ensure you do not expose the area to sunlight or sunbeds for a similar amount of time.
By ensuring the design you have is close to heart, there is no reason why your foot tattoos cannot be something you look back on with fond memories for many years to come. Do be prepared for your friends to go right out and have similar though!
